Description

Indus Valley terracotta figure with avian type facial features. Raised eyes and eye surrounds, ears and mouth, with prominent beak like nose. Appears to be carrying an object in each arm. Considered to be votive in nature as they are often found in what appears to be religious based sites. This piece likely from the area of Bajaur, a city in modern Pakistan. Decorative banding at base of what is a hollow figure.

Indus Valley. Bajaur Region Pakistan. Circa 3000 to 2000 BC

Measurements

Object height 16cm height on stand 18cm. Diameter of base 7 cm.

Condition

Good Ancient condition. Crack in base that is very stable and has had a small adhesive repair. Hole in crown of head which would have been part of the process of making the object.
