A Roman bronze facial appliqué of Silenus. Heavily detailed facial features with flowing beard. In Greek mythology associated with wine making and drunken joy. He was usually drunk and often supported by satyrs or carried upon a donkey. Adopted across to Roman culture. Remains of a suspension loop at top. Presented on a custom made stand.

Head 5.0 cm long. Height of stand 9 cm
Condition
Face intact with losses to what was previously a suspension loop. Good ancient condition.
