Description

A pair of Luristan bronze grazing animals. One a bull or antelope the other possibly representing a horse. Cast in the round, both have suspension loops indicating they were worn as amulets. Mounted together on a custom made stand.

Origin

Luristan. North-West Iranian province now called Lorestan. Luristan relates more to a group of ancient artifacts and a largely unknown nomadic peoples, than a distinct culture. Experts in bronze casting as evidenced from the highly stylized and decorative pieces they made. Circa 1000 BC

Measurements

Animals 4.2 cm long x 2.3 cm high. Length of stand 10 cm
